    The Question is...

    Howdy Folks!
Yesterday was beautiful in Colorado. Sunny, tempertures well into the 60's, snow melting nicely, but still plenty on the ground, and I got to go hunting. My finds will be fodder for another post later.

The question, heard before, came up again yesterday.
While I was pounding away through ice and snow with my trusty rock hammer, a guy approached me to ask the usual questions.
    What'cha doing?
You mean that thing can find gold and silver too?
What's the best thing you ever found?
    etc, etc, ad nauseum!

Then came the topper of the day!
You mean that thing can see through snow too?
Yes. If it can see through dirt, it surely can see through snow!

Sociable as I am as a rule,
Sometimes I just want to be left alone.
    Know what I mean?

    Blessings,
    M-Taliesin

Yes... I know what you mean.

Talking with interested folks is very enjoyable at times... sometimes not so. I guess for me it depends how much time I have for a hunt that day. If I only have an hour to find some goodies it's tough spending 10-15 minutes chatting with someone. If I am out for a couple of hours or longer... I do enjoy the occasional conversation with people, many find the hobby fascinating. Sometimes those chats will lead to new hunting grounds.

Wow...Mel...I didn't know we could metal detect through snow and ice.... rofl rofl rofl

    That IS a good one...

If I only have a couple hours hours out I prefer not having to talk to people as I am busy enough trying to make a decent score and as Coinnut said trying to clear my head. Unfortunately, when you are in the parks it seems like there is always someone to ask the questions and kill your day just chatting... lol

I suppose it is all just part of it so I try and minimize it by not looking up directly at anyone in particular and if I hear someone over my headphones I don't even flinch so as to allow them to think I cannot hear them... lol

I have, as I am sure others have, had kids come right up trying to get in my line of sight when they were wanting to talk and I was carefully trying to ignore them and mind my own business. I always get a chuckle out of that as to what people, but mainly kids, will say when they are yelling at you trying to get you to hear them and they think you cannot hear them. rofl rofl

People like that remind me of the old slinky springs, not good for much, but puts a smile on your face when you push them down the stairs. lol

    Re: The Question is...

What really ticks me off is someone coming up and asking the usual questions and then ask if the landowner gave me permission to hunt there. Makes me want to ask why is it any of their business but i usually give the same answer which is yes and offer a phone number of the owner who gave me permission. I learned this the hard way and won't go into details but i try my best not to trespass unless its just an accident then I don't.
    One find at a time.

Mel: All you need to do is get The Pooter. It should solve your problem. You can watch it in action on YouTube. Let me know how well it works. Glad to be of help.
Tomorrow should be a great day, provided nothing stops me from preventing it from not happening.
