Could this be a new way to prospect.

I've noticed a post or two in a lost and found with this line or one similar to it.

To claim the REWARD, simply send a digital photo of the ring along with your contact information to the e-mail address above:

Now I wonder how many rings are found and rewarded. 50 bucks or less for a gold ring could be a very profitable enterprise.

What do you folks think, am I just being cynical or is this a bit suspicious?

finders keepers . unless there is a name associated with a find .i have never found an item and researched to find the previous owner. but then ive never found anything that has a name on it ...
