    10x12 sef coil

tried the sef today really like it. Those using it, what recovery delay are you using? I set the coil setting to 12 inch on the v3i, is this correct or should the 10 be the selection? Thanks

It is a 10 inch wide coil, so the 10 setting should be more accurate. Recovery delay is dependent on ground mineralization strength, and desired swing speed. I use 5Hz with the SEF and do quite well with a very slow swing style. My soil is moderate in strength. This coil will go deeper than the D2 coil at a much lower RX Gain and Sensitivity settings. Lower conductive targets will be skewed upward in the VDI scale a small amount.

Can only say what I would be doing. Set up the setting for the coil which will read the distance from the quarter I'd sweep in front of the coil very close to.

Jack, Do you still swear by this coil?

Oh, I still like the coil, but to be honest the D2 coil never leaves the end of my detector these days.

    Re: 10x12 sef coil

Hello Jack, like you the 10D2 is my favorite coil. I finally got a 10x12 to test. I can get the 10x12 to RX15 without overloading, but I couldn't run it there. Now if I run the 10x12 at 2.5 or 7.5 it has no problem. I think I could run successfully at RX12 or 13 in 3 frequency. If you check the signal percent it could be double that of the D2. I've discussed this with Carl and as long as you are not having overload problems the higher signal% will not affect performance.

    Re: 10x12 sef coil

I agree with Jack. I have used a 12x15SEF coil and it works well, it gives really good depth in clean soil. However, it is hard to beat the target separation on the White's 10DD coil. Since I mostly relic hunt, the 10DD and my Super-12 are my coils of choice for my V3i. For coin shooting I like my 6x10DD and 4xD.
