    Haiti Relief Mission

Cross posting this from my forum.
A friend of ours, the manager of Sub Sea Research, is working to help those in Haiti.
Greg (shiprex) has been very active there over the years and has the equipment and ability to help.
He has a few ships (he recovers ship wrecks for a living) and will be heading out soon.

    Here is his post:

We at Sub Sea Research have worked in Haiti for several years and have many friends we have not heard from since the disaster. Our hearts and prayers go out to all. We are now trying to mobilize a rescue mission to bring food and water to Port-au-Prince and outlying areas. Our ship holds 110,000 gals of fuel and 50,000 gals of drinking water. We can carry on deck 1 million pounds of supplies, food etc. We can make fresh water on board. We also have underwater detecting equipment as well as a 100 ton a-frame lift and 40 ton crane. We need to fill our ship with supplies to bring to Haiti to help. Please pass the word and we can do this. Our ship is berthed in Boston and is ready to go. We New Englanders were there for Katrina, we’re there for Haiti. The big organizations and FEMA failed at the onslaught of hurricane Katrina. We loaded our ship with supplies and along with others we set sail to the mouth of the Mississippi river to deliver these much needed supplies. We were told we could not go there by the Coast Guard, as well as others. We went anyway. The supplies we delivered helped hundreds of people who had nothing! We have video on our website. We know Haiti, and with help we can make a difference.
We are collecting cash donations for fuel and food supplies. Whatever you can do will help!
We have word from our attorney in Haiti, things are bad and getting worse. People are starving, no water, no medical. Remember this, governments are slow at doing things, we can do it now.

From the land of the Bluenose.....amazing how everyone flocks to the call when disaster strikes! Before this they could have used the same aid just to survive. Have seen Yank news casts of New Orleans where the hurricane that hit there smoked the area and the place is still .......like a Hati.....man take care of your own first.

Canada is ready to help the world and we still have areas that need help.

Just an observation and not a slurr against dogooders.

Sometimes I wonder if it just makes us feel better, so we do it. I agree, everyone in the world probably has places that need help, but we export our help all the time lol No logic in that. I wish, just for once, the job could be finished after the disaster is over with no corruption and a rebuilt place that you could be proud of. Guess I'm dreamin'

I got another email from Greg (shiprex) today. He's extremely busy but asked me to pass this along:

We are bringing the M/V Sea Hunter to Portland Maine on Tuesday to pick up the donations from Maine. This will also be an open house, donation pick up, fund raiser for the Haitian mission. Please pass this along to others interested in helping.

Amen to taking care of our own...We have sent over 400 mil to that country, not including the private sector. France and Itali, who have been critical of our military presence there, has sent 0...The rest of the world needs to get involved ... lol

That's why I love this guy. No matter what he does, he always helps take care of those at home.

Wish I was on the ship with him. Wish I could have gone to that salvage with him as well, but such is life.
Greg is an incredible person. We talk to him a couple/few times a week and visited with him last week on the ship before they took off. It was a good time.
