    Big and fat coppers

Got out for the first time in a month or so (too hot and dry and all my fields are planted) went to a spot about 50x50 that me and Rusthunter has hit several times. I got a good but a bit scratchy tone of something good or as many times we hunted hear probably a big chunk of shallow rusted iron which I thought it was dug or should I say chip down about 3in and sure enough there was my rusted chunk of iron >:# but as I always do rescanned the hole and a nice clear tone and dug down another inch and popped out a 1857 LC I honestly do not know how it picked it up the iron was or almost covered the size of the hole was it just luck or do I give credit to the detector I also picked up my 5th or 6th fat IH a 1860 with this detector this thing just LOVES copper!!

    Re: Big and fat coppers

Spike, you been a bad boy digging coppers lol Or should I say chiseling them out >:/ Nice score on the copper. On my machine, that chunk of iron would bleed through and make a good target sound. If it was off to the side, even a little, it is possible to pick it up. But if it was directly underneath , my vote goes to the iron piece lol But either way, you found it and it's all yours It must have been nice to finally get out, and even better that you got some nice old coins too Way to go thumbsup01

Nice score on the copper. Spike. The Indian Head cent isn't bad either.
