    Weekend Hunt

Well it was nice to make it back to Logan. It was October the last time I hunted here. The temp's were better this weekend than last weekends 26. It was a balmy 50 this time. After watching it rain for the last three days I knew we'd be digging in soup. I arrived about 8am. Doug and Mike were supposed to be joining me.

Here's a shot of the area. Lots of water in the background.

Here's my gear. Hunting with the ACE 250.

Well I liked the look of this. At this point I thought I had a coin. They come out this color.

Well it ended up being this Eagle Button. It's always nice to dig these.

Here's a shot of the back. Still has the loop on the back. Looks like it was made by a Newark NJ company.

I also found this small button. It has USA on it.

Then this item which I've found before.

Not great finds. I dug some junk. But it was just great to get out.

The rain held off for the most part. The temps were just right.

Doug and Mike made it out to hunt also. It was good hunting with you guys.

    Thanks for looking.

    Re: Weekend Hunt

bet there was alot of water bailing out of those holes to see the targets before the rising flood lol makes for a very muddy day ( we have our days like that in the early spring thaw)

great pictures of the area , some pretty thick woods too( i didn't think Texas had dense woods like that ). great looking Army button ( probably WW1 era i'm guessing ) its in very nice shape too congrats on a fine looking hunt from the relics i see . thumbsup01

Glad you got out and had some fun with the guys. Got a nice keeper with that military button. It cleaned up well considering how green it was. Temps like that I can only dream of until at least March lol

Glad to know you got out Mark, that does look like a great area to detect. You do have very good opportunities to dig up some really nice WWI items and coins from that park. The button sure cleaned up well, given how green it was. Thanks for the neat photos!

Nice hunt, although it looked a tad muddy. Easy digging anyway. HH RickO

    Re: Weekend Hunt

Thanks Guys. Yes it was muddy. The nice thing about that is I didn't have to dig a hole. I just stuck my vibraprobe in the mud to locate my target. And yes it's my WW1 hunting ground. It was a WW1 training camp in 1917-18. Over 1500 acres to cover. The button came out nice and green but cleaned up well. If anyone wants to see what I've dug from there over the years visit my personal journal site www.dirtfishin.com

Thanks again for all the nice comments

Wow... that button came out green! It cleaned up beautifully, and a very nice find. 1500 acres of WW1 training camp!?! You must be in MDing heaven. It will take your whole lifetime to cover all of that! Can't wait to see more finds from there...
