I just recently got home from a vacation in Mexico, did you miss me? lol
I didn't take my metal detector but I sure thought about it a lot when I was on the beach in Cancun!
Anyway, today I went hunting at a local school that I had driven past hundreds of times but had never hunted because I thought it was too obvious and surely hunted out. Turns out I was wrong.
I hunted in the most conspicuous place, on the front lawn by the sidewalks. There were lots of modern coins, but some deeper wheat cents too so that gave me hope that there might be silver. After about an hour I found the 1950-D Rosie which caused me to slow down and concentrate a little harder. I got a solid signal with the depth indicated at about 6. I could not believe my eyes when a silver half popped out of the hole! I could see enough of the reverse to tell it was a Walking Liberty, but I didn't want to rub it so I left the dirt on it until I got home. It ended up being a 1928-S, the oldest Walking Liberty Half I have found. It is my sixth Walker, and first with my E-Trac. She's worn, but I don't care. Made my day!
