Yeah, isn't the badge cool? Makes me wonder who wore it. I think I'll check it out #4518 I bet it's on some microphiche in our local library; time to call the county clerk! lol I love researching my finds...

Btw, I found it next to Davy Crockett's uncle's house I'm going to start a thread on that place and the things I found there.

If I remember correctly the Blackbook is the prices you should expect to get for your coins (not dug ones of course) and the Redbook was the prices you would expect to pay for some coins from a dealer. Also, both those books are just general guides for identifying coins. They have actually come up a knotch in recent years. They don't list every variety of coin though. Walter Breen's Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins is a very nice reference book (pricey too!) and there are others. So if you find something nice, don't sell it before we can drool over it and let you know what you have lol

Definately! That's why I love this forum, such a wealth of info (and humor too!) Buying the blackbook is more to learn about them- I was warned by my local White's dealer/friend that it's not too 'reliable'.

Btw do you sell a lot/any of your stuff? I've never sold any of my arrowheads, although I've been tempted here and there. I found a Cobbs Triangular knife worth about $800, but not willing to part with it I get rather attached to my finds...

Yeah my hubby threw away one of my first Hotwheels!!! I admit maybe it was laying on the kitchen counter for a few days too long. But oooh I was so mad. He said defensively Tana, it was a broken old car packed full of MUD! He just doesn't understand...

Well actually NOW he does, now that I have 8 of them (would have 9)
And I showed him on EBay, the highest bid for this one was over $2000 in mint condition! ...& several other Sand Crabs went for upper $1000s

Tom (dh) said maybe it's be worth doing a little body work and paint job on this one rofl

Re: Some of my Kentucky finds...

The rest of one of the toy guns is next to Joe Crockett's house. Handyman and I were hunting up there last fall and he found and reburied it! Then he couldn't remember exactly where. I can't seem to find it!

This makes finding states on a hunt a little more exciting- I think I have 16 of them so far. Only metal detected ones!
