looks to be spanish but don't know for sure.

It definitely looks Spanish and it definitely looks very old!

hey John it looks a little off to me for a few reasons , like it was cast instead of struck , how it is evenly detailed and not worn away like most coins in circulation except for the all the edges seem a little rounded . it could be a copy of an old spanish shipwreck coin . what did it read on your machinea high conductive target like silver or lower ??

But it IS of a Spanish coin about 1600s
