    Twas the Night before Christmas

    Twas the Night before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the forum
I was viewing the messages about silver and aurum.
My detectors were all hung on the wall with care,
In hopes that spring soon would be here.

The members were all posting about reviews they had read,
While visions of new detectors danced in their head.
Beefcake was sharing some great pictures and vids
of all the wonderful gifts he bought for “Clad For Kids

When on one of the boards there arose such a clatter
I clicked on the topic to see what was the matter.
Away to the messages I flew like a flash,
Had someone found gold, or a new detector to bash!

I scanned through the board I needed to know.
Why all the responses strung out below?
When what to my wondering eyes should appear?
But a new topic Have You Been Good This Year?.

At first after reading what I thought was a trick.
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his replies came.
All the members he knew, and called them by name!

Now catskillcomics! Now SeabeeRon! Now Diggler! Now Yazoo!
On pulltabsteve! On milco! On Schrecky and Bell-Two!
To the old park, to the lot by the mall,
Now swing away! Swing away! Swing away all

The final message he left soon brought a tear,
As he talked of a cache, the find of the year.
The members got quiet and thought for awhile,
Then the jolly old elf said, with a wink and a smile

For all of you who seek riches to mound.,
The greatest find of them all has already been found.
Remember the treasure is not coins or gold.
It's the friendships here on the forum that you hold.

And I heard him exclaim as he logged out that night,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all our great forum members. Thanks for making American Detectorist part of your metal detecting adventures. With warmest thoughts.

    Sincerely,

Re: Twas the Night before Christmas

What a wonderful poem. My two brothers are in town for the holidays, both were avid metal detectorists. My kid brother brought his metal detector and expects me to take take him out. My nephew, listening to it all got excited. Out came the i pad, he checked out this forum. He and his wife got pumped with what they saw and read. It looks like I have me a new hunting buddy. Thank you all for making this forum user friendly. Merry Christmas.

I wrote this about 5 years ago, and have revised it several times. Thank you for the kind words. I am glad it brought some fun to the day. I hope everyone has had a nice day with family and friends. Merry Christmas!
