    British coins seems to be among the most common foreign coins lost in school yards in my experience. They are always fun to find!

    Yes, a large majority of foreign coins found here in the US are British. I think the tourism industry is responsible for that..... prime destination for Brits and England is prime for Americans.... RickO

    Yes is indeed a British 50 pence piece. Unusual feature is the Heptagonal shape. Only made for the 20 pence and 50 pence piece in Britain. However the coin date of 1978 tells me that it is the larger size, which was replaced in 1997 by a smaller more manageable 50p. HH

    oh yes mate its a 50 pence piece i bought some with me when i came over here , ive even got an irish one
