Beach Hunting and settings for machine help needed

Hi--I have a question concerning beach metal detecting..I use a Bounty Hunter Elite 2200...question is, when shooting sand at the beach, what setting variables do I need to be aware of, as the sodium in wet sand will change the readings...I would think some discrimination has to be made...so, any tips for dry sand, vs. wetter sand, at the low-tide area would be helpful...I'd rather keep my options as wide-open as possible, so as not to miss smaller rings...digging in sand is so much easier for me than our adobe clay, due to my upcoming hip surgery.
    Thanks
    Cal

I just wrote a comment on a similar thread:

I've traveled a long way, and many of the roads weren't paved.
