Sunday silver, wheats and an IH

I wasn't planning on detecting this afternoon, but around 2:30 I noticed how much snow had melted
in my backyard. Checked the ground and it was mostly thawed.

Grabbed my gear and headed to the park a couple blocks from my house. I really didn't expect much
from this late afternoon hunt, but several keepers ended up in my pocket before I called it a day.

The IH came out of the same hole with 3 Wheat cents. They were dated 1918, 1919 and 1920.

Looks like a great afternoon hunt to me, Joe!

I'm glad your snow melted and the ground was soft. (It got up to 57 here today!) How fortunate that you have a park only a couple of blocks from your house that can still produce old coins like that! That is a lot of wheat cents for a short afternoon hunt! Very cool that you were able to pull 3 old wheats and an Indian Head from the same hole!

Good job on keeping your silver streak alive too!

Sweet finds....that IH is in very nice shape. I like the &quotubuque Electric Company token...it looks like the old transit tokens from around here. My wild guess is that it's an electric trolley token. But how do you take 1/2 a ride?? lol

I hadn't thought of that, but I bet you're right. It reminds me of this token I found recently. I'm guessing it's similar to a one-way bus or train ticket, it'll get you there but not bring you back. You would need another one for the return trip.

Yes, it is a trolley/bus token. I have found several of these around town. The park I was hunting was once serviced by the trolley.
