Silver #50 for the year, some Indians, and my first crotal bell?

This morning I got up before dawn with plans to get an early start at the park I had so much success at last weekend. Last Sunday I found 5 Indian Heads and 2 Barber Dimes there. Today wasn't so productive though, I only found 1 Indian Head and 5 wheat cents in 4 hours. (Plus lots of clad.) I did, however, find what may be my first crotal bell. It produced a signal like an Indian Head and was about 7" deep. I don't know anything about them, but if it is a crotal bell it is a small one.

After not finding much at the park I decided to drive to my in-laws house where I found the SLQ on Easter Sunday. My in-laws were glad to see me and encouraged me to hunt all I wanted in their yard. No SLQ this time but I did find 2 Indian Heads, 2 Mercury Dimes, 1 Rosie and several wheat cents. Their yard is loaded with wheat cents, after a while I started ignoring them because I didn't want to dig that many plugs in their yard. I quit at about 3:00 p.m. with lots of area yet to be detected. I'll save it for another day.

All-in-all it was a decent day of detecting. I got silver number 50 for the year which was the 1945 Mercury Dime.

Three Indian Heads today. The beat up 1900 came from the park, and the 1905 and 1908 came from my in-laws' yard.

The 1908 Indian Head was in OK shape:

    14 Wheat Cents today:

Today's silver, no mint marks on any of them:

I found this tiny little silver item in my in-laws yard. It isn't marked but it definitely is silver. I guess it might be a hair barette?

Here's the bell I found in the park. If it is a crotal bell it's my first one. It still jingles!

Congrats on picking up 50 silver coins so far Tony! You are doing quite well with the silver, and the Indian Head cents as well! That crotal bell is in great shape.

Tony, certainly a crotal bell...congrats on your 1st. Scoring silver #50 in April is great. It's nice that the in-laws are letting you hunt away there, looking foward to the future posts. Congrats on all your keepers

Congrats on the pretty little crotal bell, I still get a kick out of finding them, nice Indians an silver. Dig a few more of those wheat signals at the yard, sometimes worn silver will come in at those numbers.

Re: Silver #50 for the year, some Indians, and my first crotal bell?

Thanks for the comments, everyone! I thought it looked like a crotal bell but I had never found one before so I wasn't sure. I appreciate the info!

I went out again today (Sunday) and found a few more coins. Not really enough for their own thread so I'll just add them to the end of this one.

I found Indian Heads #50 and #51 today, along with a 1944 Mercury Dime and a couple wheaties. I'm not sure what's up with that 1900 Indian Head, whatever it's coated with doesn't want to come off easily. I also found another 1914 wheat cent that is missing its "D".

The 1904 Indian Head is in decent shape. Oddly enough, it is the first 1904 Indian Head I've ever found. I'm not sure why that date is so scarce around these parts.

Way to go Tony! Congratulations on number 50... and now 51 too.

You are having a great year. It's pretty impressive that your silver and IH count are nearly identical. The last two years
had produced just about one IH for every two silver I found.

You are really pulling in the silver and IH's. |)
