Thread: Lithium battery

    Lithium battery

I had to jump my rechargeable battery to get started this season. I debated about building rechargable 10.8 volt as seen on other sites. I decieded just buying the Aw-2200. Anyone else tried this rechargeable lithium?

    Re: Lithium battery

I am using the AW-2200 and as Del says it lasts an awful long time. After charging I am hitting 12.55 volts and it takes a couple of hours use to get it to 11.5.

Contact Andrew at New England Detectors, a forum sponsor. He has some great prices on this battery.

I am using the V3i, this battery offers a great design that is easy to remove from the detector, and less in weight that the standard rechargable pack from Whites

I just bought a V3i and also the AW2200 lithium battery pack. I love it. Recharge time is reasonable and extended battery time is worth the extra cost.

I have 2 standard rechargeables and love them so far

But may go w/the lithium when these wear out. How much are they? I paid $24.99 for the standards...

i know Andrew at New England Detectors can do better than that price , this includes the rechargeable battery , a wall and car charging system.

    Maha PowerEx 2700 mAh NiMH Rechargeable AA Batteries (4-Pack) = 16.95 x 2 = $33.90

Took my old original dfx battery pack in to Batteries plus. They rebuilt it with the above batteries for free. Works with the standard Whites charger. Cheap, and very long lasting! $179.00 is an awful expensive battery. I suppose for those 24 hour marathon hunts it would be perfect though.

    Thanks for the info Jack!

I think I actually went on one of those hunts a couple years ago lol

It was a DfX Only group hunt at an old Boyscout camp in Ohio (actually where I met quite a few members from here in person Yazoo, IllDigger, Schrecky, and I think Jeff/Firefighter43?)

It was hunt till you drop---- people were out w/headlamps into the night! But man, were my arms and feet sore after that weekend!

Jack the ones we were talking about aren't the NiMH type their the new li-ion battery system . they are lighter in weight , have no memory and you could run your dfx for almost 40 hours on one 2 hour charge.

They are only 129.00 and free shipping ending on the 17th. Just couldn't resist with the cost AA batteries. I have reviewed several reviews with all positive comments and results.

    Re: Lithium battery

I have been using the AW-2200 battery for six months in my V3I and love it. Sure it's expensive but who cares. It's like buying a 4000 dollar bicycle and then complaining about how expensive the spd shoes are for your clip less pedals. If I have one complaint about my V3I it was the Nimh battery. I can't even think of an electronic device that wasn't built in the 90's that runs on Nimh. Who wants a battery that begins to discharge the second you take it out of the charger. The orange Nimh would only run for a couple of hours and even less with the tx boost on. I relic hunt and sometimes have to hike miles to get to my sites and didn't want to carry multiple batteries on top of all my other equipment and water. I also appreciate that it knocks off almost a half pound off of my detector. The AW-2200 is a great battery for a detector that frankly, is a bit of a battery hog.
