    First Colonial Spill, Oldest Coin

The rain stopped so I hit a cellar hole after work. I really love this place.....an ox path leading into a very old hole. This hole can be missed as it is mostly buried and very small. This is where I found the 2 cent piece, dandies, and draped bust on Monday. I started working about 30 feet from the hole and dug a small tombac, then 3 feet away the shoe buckle, then 3 more feet away the thimble. These signals were all co-located and in the 70s on the T2. Jumpy too. Then another 3 feet away I hit a perfect 85 at 5 in. I knew it was a coin....or at least a dandy. I was thrilled to take a copper out. Then I replaced the dirt and ran the coil again. I got THE SAME 85 signal!!! I was yelping!...I dug two more coppers. 1737 KGII and two other KGs, but dateless. I'll clean them more when I have some time.

    WOW, what a find!

Fantastic coin spill, Drew! I can't even imagine finding coins that old! It really makes a person wonder how the coins came to be there. Were they accidentally dropped, or were they intentionally buried there? We'll never know, but now they are seeing the light of day again after 275 years!
