    Need Help On This Button

I found this today, still has gilt on it and part of the thread still in shank. Marked Superior Quality on back and in script the letters I believe are C D, any help appreciated. I did check some button sites but I could not find this.

i've seen alot of similar buttons that had F &quot in old english with some kind of wreath going around them . they were post civil war fire department buttons and were very popular around the 1880's to about 1920. yours i believe is C P and is for city patrol or city patrolman as most towns didn't a police department only sheriffs , marshals , deputies and even patrolmans.

Here is your button: http://www.waterburybutton.com/cart/...=17438#details However, they don't give any info on it. You can contact them and they should be able to tell you what it is. I do like Del's ID but am curious as to what Waterbury has to say.
