Out detecting a park grass area and got a odd number signal so I dug it up. At 5 inches I find this, and there was no kind of play equipment, or anything, except trees and grass for 100 yards all around me.

There is a number 10 stamped on the top of this and the groove on the bottom is just a groove....it is solid --not hollowed out.
It has a purpose but I don't know what fer.
This is the 3rd one like this I have dug this year--all in different parks.
Anyone else dig these up

I'm thinking it's a part that regulates the flow from a sprinkler head .
How big is it? Could it be a type of anchoring device?
My wife does all the driving, I just hold the steering wheel!
