Silver and a Watch and a Fob!

We hunted an abandoned house site that has a field where an even older house had been situated. The house site was extremely junky large bits of iron and scrap metals all over. A couple of wheat pennies were found there and I made the only good find there a watch bezel that appears to be gold filled. Typically gold plate flakes off quite easily after some time in the ground but the gold here is still bright and seems more integrated in the metal. We moved over to the field and hunted for awhile, my first find was an incredibly tarnished Mercury dime, I could barely make it out, the next was a toasted wheatie. After picking up a few relics including part of an old cap gun and some copper bits with decoration, we were leaving when I got a good signal and I dug the Boy Scout watch fob. Research shows it is from the early 1910's and is fairly scarce. Can the watch and Fob be a pair...We will never know! Here is a nice website for Scout Memorabilia http://www.virtualscoutmuseum.com/Galle ... /misc.html

I have been asked by several people about the cleaning of the fob, it was simply rinsed in warm water to loosen the dirt, I did not scrub it at all. The patina comes from years in a working farm field.

If that was the only thing I found all day I would've called it a successful hunt.
