I've even thought about heading to a friends place down in South Carolina to hunt but that is a long way

Face it. This season is over. Let's talk about 2015
Here is a pic from the back yard. In the foreground you can see a path cut. This stuff will never melt fast enough for my liking.

Hmmm. I used to laugh and joke about this too Steve. (I still do sometimes)
However, I have learned something. I was born and raised in Iowa so I know snow. However, after living here in the south (Kentucky) for the last 7+ years, I have a new appreciation for two inches of freezing rain under two inches of snow and NO snowplows or salt trucks or ANYTHING. And people who have no clue how to drive in the snow.
Give me fifteen inches of continuous snow and ice in Iowa with the snowplows tackling it, rather than two inches of icy snow in Kentucky with no road plowing or salt. I've experienced both and my life is most at risk here in KY. It is frightening
Today was the first day above freezing since December here so this is what we have after the melt. Finally the several inches of ice on my sidewalks melted. This photo was taken just now after the melt.

well i heard the only state that didn't have any snow in it was Florida , that sure explains the slowness of the forum .

Even the critters here are taking to the roads and driveways where it's been plowed to get around.
Took these out of my front window.

The south pales in comparison to when it snows in Seattle. That is absolutley the craziest place I've ever seen when it snows. No snow tires, no chains, no experience driving in the snow, and no level streets anywhere! It's like watching drunk monkeys in a demolition derby. For the most part.

Here in New England we complain every time we get 6" of snow. To someone living in Montana, Wyoming and the Great Lakes region, that may be just a dusting It all about what you are used to. Right now I would like to be used to an 80 degree day

Winters were way worse when I was young walking ten miles to school through 3 feet of snow, uphill in my cardboard shoes. At least that's what I told the kids. seriously, the worst winter I ever saw was the year I spent at Keflavic Iceland. Cold, no sun, high winds constantly and tons of snow. I have despised winter ever since.
I have to agree with Angie though, the freezing rain here in Kentucky is a real mess. Hopefully it will be over soon and the warm summer days will return.
