I got my first and second silver April 1st this year

It's been a long time since I've gone as far a April to find a silver coin in a new year. I was headed out in the morning to my brothers house and on the way I happened to notice some fresh dirt on the way, I told him about it when I got there and we decided to go there. It was probably a 1930's house that use to be there, there were already quite a few holes dug there too but whatever they were digging for they didn't seem to recover any of the big deep targets they were after. I asked one of the people across the street if it was city owned and they said yes. My brother managed to get a shiny silver Washington and seven wheats and a lot of odds and ends. Here's all the stuff that I got.

The locket was actually the back part of the pendant, they were about 6 inches apart. The marble was a fun find digging some junk.

I've never seen anything like this before, it almost looks like it's some sort of buckle.

Both of the buffs were in the same hole along with 5 of the wheats

I was really pleased with the condition of this merc and when I found it I happened to notice some good looking detail hiding so I didn't even bother trying to remove any dirt, I like those surprise dates on coins anyway.

You found a real old wheat. 1911. As all said, the Merc is in nice shape. Good thing one of the buffalo has a date on it. And yes, the thing you found is a definitely a buckle. I think on horse reigns but maybe someone can tell you exactly.

Awesome finds! 2 Buffs and an AMAZING 1939 merc. Good job. I've seen those buckles before. They go to heavy duty leather straps (1/4 inch thick or more) and meant to bear some considerable weight. HH, Dave.

Great finds! I really like the dog license. Kind of ironic and apropos in an Orwellian sense that the government required even dogs to be tracked and have licenses in 1984.

Good grief, you get all those really nice keeper coins in one hunt. I've hunted nearly every day for 5 months and have all of 2 old coins! Guess I've been a virgin hunter for a while now!

Thanks for all the great replies everyone Last year my first silver coin was a 1917S in really good shape to but not quite as good as the one I found at this place. You can really see the detail on the copy of the photo I uploaded to photobucket http://i983.photobucket.com/albums/a...14/april17.jpg
