Up & out of the house at 5am this morning for a few hours hunt before the family even woke up. Researched the site of a cellar hole 20 minutes from my house. This site seemed to be hunted pretty good prior, but as I've heard others say, "a pounded site is never completely hunted out". I had no keepers for the first 2 hours, then I had a solid 80 VDI repeatable reading at 4" depth, right against a stone wall. After digging the plug, the target was deeper than the 4", indicating a larger target. Unfortunately, I ended up knicking the target a bit with my lesche digging tool (I thought it was a rock- rookie mistake). Got the target out & to my surprise, it was a Civil War eagle breast plate. I've been dying to find anything old with an eagle on it. Mission accomplished.
