I was digging at a place that has produced dozens of silvers for me in the past and I get a bouncy 88-92 signal on my V3 and its shallow only about 3 inches deep. I know how this signal usually works out to be an aluminum can or random piece of metal. So i decide to dig anyway...
Im so glad I did because when I looked in the fresh pile of dirt I see the edge of a big silver coin. Im thinking Walker or Franklin!!! So Imagine my heart skipping a beat as I carefully wipe away the dirt to see my very first Barber Half. It is a 1897 P. This picture is after I cleaned it up a bit. It had some real dark toning on it and it took a great deal of cleaning to get it to this state. I may have ruined any numismatic value but im never selling it anyway. If it was an S or O mint it would have keen a ket date half and so I would have just left it alone. I still shocked that I actually pulled one of these. Bucket list coin checked off. Thanks for looking.
