Now that we can't get out detecting since the ground is covered in snow, I figured I'd share a neat find I made 3 weeks ago.
We were out detecting a picnicking area that dates back to at least the mid 1920s. About half way through our hunt I found a little hot spot that started popping out quite a few wheaties. So I slowed down and did a semi thorough grid on a area approximately 20 ft. X 60 ft. In the middle of that area was a giant oak tree! Amongst the older coins I got a signal that I figured would be another wheat or a memorial cent and out pops a copper ring!
I couldn't make out the design on the side of it while I was in the field. All I could see was a large M on the side of it. After finding a couple of premium rings in the past I recognized this rings weight and the unique logo on it and knew it was a good one. I brought it home and cleaned it up.
It took some searching on the Web but I finally spotted the logo! Tom Mix? Never heard of him. Turns out he was pretty popular in the 40's! This was a premium ring from his radio show in the mid 40's!
It's the Tom Mix Magnet ring!
Although not as pretty and awe inspiring as it was back in the 40's when some young kid got it out of the mailbox.
But still a cool find!
I even managed to snag a couple of pieces of silver! A Rosie and a Merc!
Thanks for lookin & HH!
Merry Christmas and a Happy killer find filled New Year! ⭐
