I don't include war nickels in my silver tally, but I've seen others that do. Since they're only 35% silver I would feel like I was cheating if I included them.

Silver is silver. Canadian silver coins aren't 100% silver, but I would definitely count those too

I tend to agree. I have always considered the wartime nickels as silver finds, even though I have never counted them in my silver totals. Perhaps I should have.
I did? I voted no? I didn't think I voted at all My mouse must have a mind of its own...

I'm one of the oddballs I guess but I don't keep a count, I just throw my finds in jars. One for silver One for clad. But the good silver go in my coin folder collections. thumbsup01

I'm pretty sure a war nickel has exaclty as much silver in it as a silver dime... as such, they count!
EDIT - apparently I'm way off here... less silver than a silver dime.
Still, I'm counting them. If I have to make up a reason it's because they usually come out of the ground shiny like silver. Or at least better looking than regular nickels.

I honestly have not counted this year either... Been a low silver year for me...aside from the Grandma's Horde... I'm sure I have been in the ~10 silver range... much less than last year. My silvers are put in protectors and the wheatis in a jar. I'll count them up this winter I guess while I'm going nuts with a frozen ground.

2011 Silver count: 58

I don't keep a count on my silver for the year either (though I do know I am down this year from previous years), but I definitely consider the war nickels silver and would include them in a count..thats my 2 cents worth anyway (or 5 cents worth in this case I guess... )
I gotta start finding some before I can count them!!

As lean as my silver count is, I would sure count them. But thats just me.
Minelab ETrac,Whites BH-ID, Fisher F2, Vibraprobe PP,Bullseye II PP.
I count them only cause it's easy I don't get much silver where I hunt, but occasionally I will hit an old house and score some. I hit a park area last year and had great, (old) silver results, but not this year. I count large coppers instead

I haven't been (and I voted as such), but I will from now on. Never gave it a thought... 'til now.
