This morning I went to an old church dating back to the late 1700's I've been hunting for about 2 years. It's right around the corner from where I live- nice and convenient
Last week a woman who works at the office came out to see what I'd found (old rosette and 1949 rosie). She was intrigued and mentioned that there was an old house site right there on the corner, maybe I should look there.
8/ lol Yes, that sounds great-thanks!
I've avoided that area for a long time because it was so close to a busy 4 lane highway, thus pretty loud... but thanks to my wireless headphones didn't have to deal with that today.
I quickly found remnants of the old brick house, lots of china, copper fittings and pipe a 1947 dog tax tag, a metal plate belonging to Mr Chas J Rettig w/address that I'm going to try and hunt down & 1927 Bulova watch... I was expecting some early 1900's silver but whoa and behold I found a 1838o (no stars variety) Liberty Seated Dime! My oldest silver thus far!
It was only about 3 deep and VDI of 54/68/72/76 it jumped around so much I almost didn't dig it- it was a wierd signal /low #'s for a silver dime But then I've only dug one other seated dime. I remember that one surprised me also...
Here are some pics of my adventure
