Okay I'll take a picture tonight.
Great job on the video Nick! Some nice finds you got there. I like the French coin best. Although the MVM plate is sweet too. Great first year.

Nick it could be Civil War related ( possibly a belt buckle a union soldier would wear) i need to see a good clear phot of the back and front to confirm it .Originally Posted by NicktheMainer link=topic=8959.msg101046#msg101046 date=1329661749

Thats odd, I thought there would at least be 3 prongs on the back.....wonder what this thing represents.
It's pretty thin! and small too.Originally Posted by del link=topic=8959.msg101179#msg101179 date=1329776520
Nick i think you have the front part to a square beltplate it was probably brazed ( similar to soldered) on . you could clean the back real well to see if the brazed marks are there , yours would look like this if it was all there in one piece .

Yeah, I'll definately do that when I get back to my dad's on Thursday. I haven't even cleaned the dirt off the plate since finding it.
great job for 2011. A very good year.I hope that plate is part of a mass volunteer buckle. That would be the highlight of any collection. thanks for sharing. |
