    Holy cow, tiny 1873 silver!

    Hi all,
Out trying a new park and finding it loaded with iron and even some recent plugs from someone else detecting. But in between some square nails I got a repeatable 12-41. Dug down and around 6 to 7 inches I saw a tiny round bit. Think8ng it was probably another small brass washer I find all over, I cleaned it a bit and saw a bust on one side with some words on the edge. Flipped it over and cleaned that side a bit and saw silver with 10 cents 1873 on it! Turns out it's from the Netherlands. Can't believe I found something so tiny!

I'll probably do the baking soda foil and water bath. It's worked wonders on other coins. Probably do it tomorrow evening. I will post pics if I get good results.

What a cool little silver coin, and old too! I've never seen one before. I can't wait to see it cleaned up. I bet it will clean up nicely with the baking soda and foil method.

That's awesome. I love when people find odd coins like this. Makes you wonder about the story of the coin, travel back then wasn't easy. Congrats!
