Got out Thursday with Danny for some colonial detecting. The find of the day for me was a very early buckle. This design is dated to c1620 - 1680 in Whitehead. It is a cast copper-alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle with lobed protrusions on either end of the strap bar. That's a mouthful! Thanks to Danny for helping me date this buckle. I also dug my very first machine etched tombac and a very nice fancy button.
