14K Gold Ring after work today - April 4, 2013

I'm almost embarrassed to post this after whydah and PL8MAN have been finding gold rings by the truckload, but I don't find gold very often so I'm going to post it.

It was such a beautiful spring day today that I couldn't resist hitting the local school yard for some relaxing swing time after work. While I have found a couple of Indian Heads and silver dimes at this school yard in the past, today I was just finding a ton of clad. Only one wheat cent made its way into my pocket, a 1919.

Just as it was starting to get dark I decided to dig one more nickel signal and call it a day. This signal was a 12-12 on the E-Trac about 3 deep. Much to my surprise, it was a 14K gold ring instead of a nickel. Only my second gold ring with the E-Trac.

It isn't much to look at but I'll take it!

Thanks for looking and happy hunting! :beerbuddy:

Hey Tony. Congrats! :)

That's a tiny little bugger, but GOLD is GOLD! And it is 14k

I'm getting close to 600 nickels dug with my e-trac, and no nickel signals have yielded gold for me yet.

That's the way to save the day from not digging any silver. ;)

Nice find!
Congrats!
I've been digging alot of those 12-12, 12-13 (textbook nickle signal for me), and even a couple 12-14's for good measure. I've been getting quite a few nickles thumbsup01 , lottsa pulltabs , but no gold as of yet. 8/ lol

Have you weighed it yet Tony? ::huh::
At 14K,and just guessing at least 1.5g? :dontknow: Thats over $42!! |:cheering:
Alot better that some crumby new nickle! lol

Wow, what a copy cat... rofl. Great find Tony. I will be digging all nickle signals from now on. I have only gotten 4 gold rings but they do make the day.

:omg: congrats on your first gold ring with the e trac i have yet to find gold with mine makes me want to dig all of them signals even close to the nickels again congrats on your find dennis :perfect10: :perfect10:

Gold is good! Honestly I would take a gold ring like that over most silver coins any day of the week. So far for me gold is pretty tough on the Etrac other than those rings that just happen to land in the nickel range. I'm pretty sure most gold rings will come in much higher, up to 12-30 or so. On the Sovereign gold would sound a bit different so I could almost weed it out from all the trash but I have yet to get there yet with the Etrac.

Anyway, congrats on the finest of shiny stuff!

I'm trying to decide if the ring says CB on the inside or GB. :thinkingabout:

If it's GB it might be Gold over Base which would mean it has a layer of gold over a base metal, usually silver.

To me it looks like CB but maybe it's a worn G. :dontknow:

I'm pretty sure it's a maker's mark Tony. I've found a ring with the same marking, and I'm pretty confident it is not plated.
