The pickings were really slim this weekend, maybe 5 non ferrous targets in 4 hours but 2 were coppers. First was a dateless Matron. Second was this nice looking 1798 Draped Bust. Jeff
Hiked through a mile of scrub oak to get to one of my sites. Pickings have been slim there but it gave up some goodies yesterday. I dug a War of 1812 1st Artillery Regiment button a dateless Draped Bust copper, a thin copper ring, old purse top etc.Lodge
Dug this shoe buckle this morning. It was super crusty when it came out of the ground. Was really surprised how ornate it was when I cleaned it up at home. Lodge
I was able to sniff out an 1843 Large Cent and a 1740 1 real today. I haven't had a copper and a real on the same hunt in some time. They were about 2 feet apart right up close to the cellar hole's well. The real is from a Mexican mint and is in nice shape.

It was cold this morning with the windchills in the teens but the sun was out for the first time in a while!
Dug this 1801 Draped Bust this morning. Was happy to get a date off of it. I had my doubts when I saw all that dirt stuck to it.
Same old story. Pounded site (are there any other kinds these days?). Looking at my records I haven't pulled a copper from this site in 5 years and I've hit that site a lot. On Saturday I pull this Draped Bust ten feet from the cellar hole ! It took some extreme settings though. Reactivity at...
Sniffed some mid-conductors out of the iron today including this little flat button. I almost tossed it into the button bucket but decided to rub the dirt off and was surprised to see the remains of an eagle with shield holding an olive branch in its talons.
I thought it might be be military...
For you Deus 2 users.....I had to laugh when I dug that 1827 Matron. I was in Sensitive Full Tones and had dug 5 or 6 .22 casings etc. All mid tone finds. After a while I decided to make a Tone bin from 71 to 88 and put the volume at zero to eliminate any falsing, just relax a bit and maybe pick...
Beautiful day in the woods today, started out with temps in the 20s but warmed into the 40s. I hadn't found a coin at this homestead site in several years. Easy targets are long gone. I had dug a couple of small broken pewter buttons and a couple of .22 leads and was about to call it quits when...
