Literally. Got out this weekend for a hunt. Found 18 buttons in a roughly 4 foot square area. Based on the different sizes and numbers of each size, AI suggested they were from a men's froc coat or tail coat between 1740 to 1840. They were all plain, nothing fancy. That makes sense for this site. Six or seven of them still have some wool cloth clinging to them. The pic on the rock only shows 14. I got tired of digging them after awhile, did some detecting around the site, then went back to the button area and found 4 more.
