    button town

Fields were a little muddy today 8/ 10 minutes in my boots must have weighed 10lbs each. Had a blast as usual! These are finds from this sunday and last at the farm. The medallion is toast but was gold plated at 1 point in its life. Mike found a King G and plenty of buttons too.

    My good deed...

I have a few metal detectors posted online for sale. This afternoon I got a phone call from a guy who wanted to buy one because he just lost his wedding ring in his front yard. He lives at Smiths point, right on the bay and he got 5 feet of...water in his house from the storm. Lost his roof...

    Field finds

Hi Gang! Been kind of busy here with with the golf course season winding down and all the maintenance work needing to be done, but still managing to get out to the fields with Mike on the weekends. These are some of my recent finds from there. Any help with the ID on the 2 buttons is appreciated.

    It never ends

I took a drive in to work this morning to check out the damage on the course. As soon as I pulled in to the lot, a tree was down at the clubhouse. We lost power at some point. No alarm, no phone, no electricity. The back French doors to the restaurant blew open and all hell came in. Took a drive...

    High winds

Wouldn't you think during a hurricane the trampoline would be something you take down and put away?

    This weekends finds

This weekend Mike and I stayed very local. A couple of silvers to add to the coin box. Mike had a sweet gold find yesterday. Hopefully he'll get some time to post it. Next Sunday we'll be hitting the 1870s house for the first time. I can't wait to see what goodies we can come up with!

    Fun find

Mike and I got out for a little hunt late this morning. Had an awesome 11-47 at 8 and dug out this silver womans wedding ring. While looking for an inscription I saw it was a coin ring. It looks like a 1950 dated quarter. I googled coin rings and found out that during WW1 and WW2 soldiers made...

    Nothing amazes me anymore

Mike and I headed out this morning to an old horse racing track. There was so much trash it wasn't any fun. Plus it was so overgrown we couldn't get close to where the grandstands were. Maybe in a few months we'll head back. On the way there we passed an old abandoned house with a nice piece of...

    Swingin' in the rain

An overcast, light rain kind of day here on Long Island. I had to get out for a quickie to my favorite local park. 1st good signal was a deep iffy high tone. Pulled out a large copper thats pretty toasted. I doubt I'll be able to tell what it really is. A little while later I got the small flat...

    You win some....

Mike and I got out for a little digging this morning. Its the first time I've been able to get out detecting in 2 weeks. Work is crazy busy as the golf season comes to an end. Found this gold plated ring at an old schoolyard. We made a few contacts for new detecting spots and made a few friends...

    Silver without detecting

I helped my kid move into his dorm today for his 3rd year of college. I'm pretty sure we got everything thats needed, at least for now. He's only an hour away so I'm sure he'll be coming home at least once a month. It sure is quiet around here without his sense of humor. I am very proud of him...

    Mystery box...

Going through my mystery box this morning. Its a cigar box that has stuff I couldnt identify. Decided to give a better look at this copper coin. Certainly not an MS-63 but it IS a flying eagle penny. I'm positive the date is an 18 something

    Short hunt

After I got out of work today, I met up with Mike to get in a quick hour hunt. After 10 minutes Mike pulls out a Barber dime next to the porch to break his silver slump <: 10 minutes later I get my Barber and as we are leaving the sterling pin which was very deep. Another fun hunt |:cheering...

    Back to the school

Mike, Don and I got out for a few hours this morning. Another fun hunt. I used to like detecting in the summer heat but this year, with the high humidity, Im really looking forward to fall.

    solid 12-11

Twice! |:cheering: Headed out with Mike this morning and hit an old school first. Normally I don't dig many foil numbers but this one I decided to dig. It was only 3 deep. Dig the flap, look in the hole and I see Melissa! Next stop was a soccer field we figured there may be some gold or silver...

    Reale or not?

So this morning Mike and I got out for a little detecting. There was a barn sale a few towns away that I wanted to stop off at first. We get there and we were talking to the guy who runs it and find out he goes to storage unit auctions. The barn is on old property and we start talking about...
