A First for me and silver #87

I invited Tim (Illdigger) and Ted up for a hunt at the infamous picnic grove on Thursday. As usual the grove did not disapoint. I was running late because of work but manage to get hunting by 0930. After some quick hellos we got into a short conversation about coins I have not found on this...

    More Native American Copper finds

When I found the tang Spear point last month I thought that it would be a while before I found anything like it again. On Friday I found not one but two Old Copper Culture artifacts. They were in the general area of my last find but hundreds of yards from it. The first was 7 inches deep reading...

    Old Copper Culture Spear Point

I found this find today in SE Wisconsin in a wooded section of a picnic grove. The area I was hunting did have a Native American presence as late as the mid 1800's. The find is a socketed Tang point that was probably used as a spear point. From what I found it is from the Old Copper Culture...

80th YTD silver is a semi key date

The grove did not disapoint me again. I found my 80th silver coin for the year and it was a good one. It is an 1894-O barber dime. I would grade it at VG-8 and the Coin World value guide puts it at $100, not bad. I also found an 1888 Indian and 2 wheats from the teens. The dime was a great find...

An overlooked feature of the CTX 3030

This is one great feature of the CTX 3030, updatable. Here is a link to the firmware updates for the CTX. I downloaded the updated Exchange 2 plugged the CTX in and it prompted me to a new firmware update. Less than 10 minutes it was complete. The best new feature is the locking pinpoint...

GOLD and 9 Silvers, what a hunt!

I received my new 6 inch coil for the CTX over a week ago but because of family matters did to get a chance to use it until Yesterday. I took it to my infamous grove for its maiden voyage. I set up the CTX for trash using a completely open screen in the combined tones. The area I decided to hunt...

Last weeks hunts, silver and a nice token

I was able to get in three short hunts last week and manage 4 more silvers for this seasons count. The most interesting find was a GreenRiver Whiskey token from the 30's. After some research I found that it is valued at $25-$30 if it had not spent time in the ground. This is a quote from an...
