Colonial hunting with Del and then some

Went out with Del early this morning (on the road by 4:30 lol). He asked me where I wanted to go, so I told him. Lucky me ;) We hit an old standy that has been good to us (Del mostly ). But today it was good to me. Got about 9 buttons, thimble, other stuff and 2 really beat up coppers...

    Rain, Thunder and Lightning

Yep, we're stupid lol We detect every Saturday and we really don't care what the weatherman says  So, on our way by 4:40 this morning, it was raining along with some nice thunder and lightning. It did that in waves all day long. It stopped when we stopped around 2ish :ticked: Made for...

    Short hunt with Del

Short hunt with Del...well short for Del, as he dissapeared, never to return rofl I guess the heat got to him. But I had a good time out at one of our better sites we found this year. It was good to both of us, but it really needs to be retired now. I must have swung that coil 5,000...

Short house hunt - they moved some dirt!!

Passed by my favorite house they were supposed to move last November, but couldn't. It's an old 1790ish colonial, and I have had exclusive permission to hunt it. It also was owned by a man who sold junk metal :ticked: I've done ok there, but was waiting for them to move the house and grate the...

    Colonial hunt with Del

Wanted to go up to a site that has given up 3 coppers before, but other than that, targets were sparse. Today we found some holes near there and targets again were sparse lol So we headed back to the 3 copper hole. It was a long day and we worked hard for our targets. Sometimes the light rain is...

Got a monster coil today and tried it out

OK where to begin. I traded a 4x6 sef butterfly coil and a 4.5x7 excelerator coil for a 12x15 sef butterfly (MONSTER) coil. It is big lol I needed something for fields and the little coils didn't work at iron sites any better than the 11 pro coil. So it comes in and I decide I want to see if I...

Yep, it's Saturday again and Del and I were off colonial hunting. We decided to try some previous sites and find some coppas lol Not today  But we did well, except that it rained all day long :ticked: It was a bit cold, windy and rainy, but other than that it was nice rofl At least...

Show your oldest, nicest coin and where you found it

Was wonering what everyone's oldest, but nicest coin is. I have a 1723 Hibernia, but it's trashed lol But this 1746 George II is beautiful. It came from an old cellar hole that doesn't usually produce readable coppers. But this one was right on the lip of the cellar hole.

E Trac - locking the shaft

I don't know if anyone has had this issue with the locking mechanism on the E Trac, but the top lock that is on the unit has decided to not keep the shafts secured to the unit itself :ticked: This is also where the internal connection is made. You don't want that part slipping out when you...

    Saturday's colonial hunt with Del

Our usual Saturday hunt and was the weather nice! It had to hit 40+ degrees today. Tried a couple of hunches for some new sites. I better keep my day job. lol Neither of them were worked out. No walls, no cellar holes, just plain old woods (and swamp). Will have to be more cautious...

    3 amigos

Got a chance to do some cellar hole hunting with Angel and Del today. Went to our usual place. It's giving up fewer and fewer targets, so we need a new spot lol Did manage a nice complete shoe buckle (sorry HeavyMetalNut ;)), and a real corroded Connecticut copper. This is the third Conn copper...

Brrrrr. hunt with Del and John M.

Well we did it  2 degrees this morning and the three stooges went out to play in the snow. We hit the same cellar hole I got a Connecticut and Dan got his 1831 copper at last time. It was very cold to start the day, but I got some new boots (no more sneakers until at least March...

    Photo's to line art?

OK Computer people, here's one for you. I have been looking for information on what program the Wall Street Journal uses to turn people's photo's to a drawings. (I guess line art? or pen and ink?) If you look at the Journal you will see pictures all through it like that. The reason I want it, is...

Nice cellar hole hunt with DEL - I smell coppers

Went out to the site we found way back in the woods with high hopes of it being untouched rofl Needless to say it was hit pretty hard, and for good reason. The coins from there come out nice considering their age. I had a great relic day and a pretty good coin day (except for the Lincolns...

    2009 - year's finds - Part 2

Got around to puting together the rest of my year's finds and finally got some photos done. It was a great year. Earthquake in Haiti

Just wanted to take the time to ask everyone to pray for the millions of people affected in Haiti. The loss of life is likely to be, unbelievably high. Makes me appreciate what we have and what can happen in the blink of an eye. My heart goes our to those, whose families are still unaccounted...

    OK last Saturday's hunt 01-02-10

Since Del or Cab isn't gonna post our unbelievable hunt rofl I have to do it. First of all this is for the weatherman :bop: :bop: :bop:  I want that job, since apparently a dusting to 2 somehow equals 4-6 inches. :ticked: So when we got to our site we had 4+ inches to deal with. Not much...

    Last hunt of the year

We did our usual weekend hunt and it was warmer than expected. Maybe even 30 degrees lol We hit a large colonial hole and it was picked pretty well clean. I got lucky today  My traditional ox knob at 9, 2 zincolns, a clad dime, deformed musket ball, some kind of lock plate for a...
