Lee and I went out for a short hunt today to an area I have been driving by for several months that I thought might hold some potential. We didn't find anything other than old shotgun and rifle casings ,but I did sight find this old trolley My first thought was to turn it into a coffee table...

Anyone have or had one? Is this a good unit? Are they hard to use? Should I look elsewhere for a water detector? Thanks for any advice

Pro pointer makes V3i go nuts

I've owned both my Garrett pro pointer and Spectra V3I for two years now. For about the last month when I am searching a hole with my pointer for the the my V gets very noisy. On different days it seems the distance I have to place the V away from the pointer changes. Somedays I can have the V...

    Woman's shoe decoration

Found this at an old home site. Not sure how old the house is being it has no plaque ,but I think its mid 1800's because its in the federal style with outside dental moldings. I'm no expert on these things but anyway. Any idea what this is? It measures roughly 2 1/2 X 2

A couple recent finds with Lee

Lee took me to some old foundations he had found. Not sure how old but we suspect they were in use till the later 1800's. They don't look like homesites more like some sort of work site being there are no chimneys located there. Any how I found this tin shield and glove laying next to each other...

    I really hate myself today

I found a beautiful button today. I couldn't make out the fine daeails dut to dirt and crud so in my stupidity I cleaned it using naval jelly and a soft toothbrush but didn't realize the base metal was copper which the jelly etched the heck of of the button . Being I basically ruined what was a...

Found my first foreign silver today

Lee and I hit a old park today. The first area we hit didn't result in much except a tiny bit of clad for us both and a wheat for Lee. We decided to move down to the area around the ball fields and to my surprise there was hardly any junk signals and even fewer coins of any kind. After a good...

    A toasted Vermont baby head

I found this today at a 1700's sit only 1 deep. Oh why couldn't it have been in good shape.

Any ideas what this could be?

I found this rather deep at the 1700's site. It is made of lead and hollow. It measures 1 1/2 X 3/4. My first thought was a fishing weight but the hole seems to large tone such and I don't think they invented the slip type sinker that far back.

    Clipped reale

Found a clipped reale today. Hit at 37 VDI on the spectra V3I at 4 I'm now wondering if its real considering it hit low on the VDI scale. 37 is more like pewter, but then again Lee found a silver chain that read the same so I really don't know.

Am I the only one seeing the gold chain?

No matter what post I click on between every reply I am seeing a cropped section of the gold and jade chain that is pictured in the scrolling banner of finds. Weird.

    My very first gold ring

I spent most of the day doing chores and when I got done I felt a bit tired and was going to take a nap but thought that would be shameful to waste a beautiful mid 50 degree afternoon. Decide I would go out for an hour or two. Went to an area where I have found a few old coins in the past but...

If its real its my oldest button to date

I hooked up with Lee today to hunt the park we have been going to recently where Lee found his beautiful gold ring a few weeks back. Not sure how long its been a park but the entire area houses and all date back to the early 1600's. I had gone there yesterday but the ground was frozen solid...
