    V3/D2 coil frustration

Just before the holidays, my D2 went bad, and I shipped it out to White's and they replaced it, tho it took 3-4 weeks and a few e-mails/phone call. I let them slide since it was over the holidays. New coil seemed fine -- now I always air test and do a probe, and always got an recommended RX of...

    some silver bling today

Finally got out -- had to drive to the Jersey shore to do it -- I'm not much of a beach hunter, but just had to get out. Scored a couple of silver bling: a bracelet and a cool looking crescent earring, and a handful of clad. Hopefully the local snow will be melted in the next couple of weeks.

    Shovel RX?

I'm curious if someone can give me a shovel recommendation for md'ing. Portable, good in wooded sites, cuts thru roots like butter, good value ... TIA

a different kind of silver today

Went back to a site in the woods that had given up some nice coppers in the past, but 2.5 hours of swinging netted only one common wheat. Did, however, find this piece of a spoon, which tests as silver, tho a bit less than 925 if I'm reading the acid right. I take the silver however I can get it.

    gold ring

Went silver hunting today at a location closer to home, but the ground was just too frozen. Spent some time in the woodchips while I was there and scored a light (1.38gr) 10K gold ring. Came up as VDI +11, squarely in the foil zone.

    couple of silvers today

Went to a new site for me today -- an old school bldg with baseball fields that show up on the 1930s aerials. Hit the field where the oldest field was (it isn't there now), and worked the first and third baselines, nada, not even much clad. I guess its a pretty obvious target, and has been...

    first copper of the season

Woke up this morning and it was 13 degrees. The last thing I was thinking about was metal detecting, but I got an e-mail that some guys were going to a site that had given up some Spanish silver and some other good stuff in the past, so who am I to pass on such an opportunity? Anyway, pulled...

    Santa was here

Brought me a membership to the local historical society. Woohoo!  Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and more good finds next year.

    today's relics -- musket ball?

Dug a couple more buttons and a round ball of what I am assuming is cast lead or lead alloy (VDI +48). (The dime is just for comparison, did not dig that today). Poking around the net it looks like other pictures of musket balls I saw, but seems a wee bit small? (about .55 inches). If it isn't...

    coppers and buttons

Got some warmer weather after a nasty storm moved thru, so between work and the storm managed to get some detecting in. I love looking for coppers after a heavy rain. Anyway, these are a bit too embarrassing to post. First one at least shows a right-facing bust and a III, but it is a good 1 to...

    White's used my story

Got an e-mail today from White's saying they'll use my story about recent silver finds. Looks like Santa will be bringing me a hard carrying case this year  Woohoo!

    six silvers today -- unbelievable

Went back to the place that gave up the 21 wheats and a couple of silvers last time. This time I got a good deal on the silver/wheat ratio, pulling 6 silvers and 9 wheats in about 3 hours. First half hour started out kinda frustrating, just pulling deep clad. How does a memorial penny get 7...

    first multi-silver day + 21 wheaties

Went to a place I'd never hunted before today, but the historical aerials looked promising. It was a huge area, a nice day, so my goal was to get at least 2 silvers for the first time. First 20 minutes went horrible, not a single keeper, not even clad. Then I started hitting wheaties, one after...

    Black Friday silver

On the way to dinner with the family yesterday, I noticed a row of houses alongside the road had recently been bulldozed. They only date to the 50s, but I decided I'd rather be there than doin' the mall crawl today. Got in about an hour hunt and got one silver and a couple of clads.

    Hello from Chester County, PA

Hello all. Recognize many of you from another forum, and some new people to meet as well. Figured I'd introduce myself. Have a V3 and am mostly interested in coin shooting and history. Pretty much still a newbie.
