    large cent

Headed to a park I've never hunted before, which has an old house and some grounds dating back a few years. Wanted to get near the house but too many people where hanging there so headed around the grounds to get the feel for the place -- nothing but surface clad :bangahead01: :bangahead01: so I...

    dig your pull tabs

Had some time over lunch and went back to the park where I scored an old half dime to work that area again, and work some bling along the soccer field. Decided to see how many shapes and colors of pull tabs I could pull -- quite a few in the VDI 22-27 range today, including that odd-shaped one...

    old half dime

This is sort of unbelievable. Had some time this afternoon and went to scout some areas that looked good on the aerials, but they were off-limits without permission. Decided to try to snag some bling on the way home along the soccer field of a modern park, but the field was in use. Volleyball...

    today's bling

Had a little time this morning for a quick clad and bling pounding hunt. First target rang beautifully in the low range with a 'dig me I'm a gold ring kinda sound', and what came out of the ground looked pretty sweet -- like a gold earring and a silver ring with stones. :happydance01: But both...

    Memorial Day silver

Had a couple of hours this morning to get out to a new site I discovered -- a demolition site that I'm not sure is too obvious, so I hoped it hadn't been pounded too hard. First hour and a half digging 60s and 70s clad :bangahead01:, but in some sense it was encouraging as these are targets that...

    silver this morning

Was able to get out this morning for an hour an a half to an old school. Site has been pounded, and all I've ever found is a couple of wheats, but had a hunch about an area that may have been hit less, and managed to pull one silver and 2 wheats. Its seen better days, but silver is silver.

a pair of coppers this afternoon

Pulled a pair of coppers this afternoon. The first looks like a mailed bust 1787 or 1788 CT copper. The second, who knows , I couldn't id it, but it looks like a lizard tail or something on reverse. The first was dug at 10 inches, and came in pretty good on the e-trac on the CO...

    old silver pinkie ring

Went to a site yesterday that has always given up silver for me (my only such site), but its a smallish area, and it seems to be thinning out for me. Wanted to run the e-trac over it. Only silver was an old pinkie ring (I'm guessing). Not hallmarked, but tests as silver. Area was in use from...

    first e-trac silver

Started out as a frustrating day -- digging nothing but iron :bangahead01:. For some reason, I can't get the hang of when the e-trac is telling me I got deep iron -- it all sounds so good and diggable to me  . Hopefully I'll get a few good deep non-iron targets for...

e-trac see thru really seems to work

2nd trip out with the e-trac today. One target was a wheatie only 4 inches deep, but was directly under a piece of foil. This target was 2 feet from a tot lot I know has been pounded, in a park I know has been pounded. I've probably passed over this target myself. That was pretty cool. I wasn't...

    e-trac maiden voyage

I managed to get what I felt was a good deal on a used E-trac, and took it out for the first time today, to a park that has given up a mix of silvers, old coppers, tons of wheats, clad, and old and new trash, but doesn't have too much target density. Seemed like the perfect place to test drive...

    todays and yesterday's silver

Yesterday went to a site that gives up a silver about half the time, but it seems like pulling teeth to get it. The rosie was only 3.5 inches deep, but there was alot going on in the area -- foil, a pull tab, a copper penny, and deep iron. I would not have found it were I not playing with using...

    scored a silver today

Managed to get out today to a park I'd never hunted. Was modern park, and I was hoping to score some bling at the vball courts, but came up empty. Park had an old house from the original land that had been converted to a maintenance building. Seemed like an obvious site that had probably been...

    vacation gold and silver

Family trip to the beach, and managed to get some swing time in. This was my first beach hunt with the V3 with a presumed good D2 coil, and I was happy with the performance for a land machine. Managed to pull an 14K opal ring with 18 side stones (wife says the opal is real, not sure about the...

    beat up flying eagle cent

It seems embarrassing to post such a beat up coin, but yeah, that is an 1858 flying eagle I dug today. It is something I never expected to ever find. The reason to post is because it was VDI +27 both in the ground and on an air test. I never expected to find a US coin at that number, and for the...

    George II copper

Dug a George II today. More detail than I usually get -- its refreshing to see something other than a blank slug or just visible bust. Looks like 1728 as near as I can determine. Base metal period counterfeit (no patina, lower VDI), so no telling exactly what year it was actually made. Of...

    old silver ring

Had a couple hours this morning to get back to that site that coughed up the 1801 reale, and found another cool keeper -- an old silver ring. Got a clean high conductive target signal at 4.5 inches according to the V3, but had to go a good 8 inches to get the baby. Don't remember the V missing...

    a few silvers today

Went to a site today that two times in the past has produced multi-silver days, and managed to get a few today as well. First target of the day was the 1952 South African 3 pence, which is 50% silver. So it counts, doesn't it  Interesting find for around here in any case. Spent the next...

    Spanish silver

Day started out pretty weak -- hit an old house that I thought had some potential, but bagged it after 90 minutes and only one wheat to show for it. The lack of trash indicated to me that the site has probably been pounded pretty hard. When to another site that wasn't high on my list (just a...

    indian head

Pulled my first Indian head today. Sort of surprising as the site was a golf course in the 40s and 50s, but just farmland before that with no buildings anywhere near where I found it (that I know of, anyway). Usually just gives of wheats and a stray 20th century silver (but this site strangely...
