    Need some help identifying.

    I have been trying to figure out what this is. It measures about 1.5" wide and long. The two prongs each come to a point. My guess is that it would have held a leather strap? Found it on an early 1900s farm site. Says Pat 1869. Hopefully this is clear. 1st time posting a picture.
