    stingy park

2 hours driving and 4 hours detecting = only a few keepers. Went back to a park Scott and I hit looking for some old coins. Gridded off an area and ~ an hour into the hunt I had a definite good hit. Turned out to be this 1900 barber dime. I felt good like this was going to be an incredible day...

    1 hour MA hunt

So, I was in MA this weekend for my son's hockey tournament (they took 2nd and my kid got thrown out at the end of the semi finals). Across the street from my fathers house, there's an old school that;s been boarded up for many years. I have been there and my brother has been there and found a...

    2 silvers

Met up with Scott at 8:30 am and we went out to an old airstrip to find very little. In fact only 1 wheat Scott found....1st dig. Then off to a few parks.....with a possie of kids trailing Scott, he was slow going. Very trashy, I managed the 1919 merc and I think Scott hit an IH penny. Then I...

    4 hours

Hunted around a few spots today, including the old town commons we have all been to many times. I ended up with 2 more....the quarter was the 1st dig of the day! :callme: Also found a few wheaties for the week, 13 of them w/o a sigle IH....they are dates 1910, 1925, 1929, 1942, 1944, 1946 (3)...

    5 fairgrounds finds

Yep, Scott me and John, Mr. MD, went out for a bit. Funny how Scott called me and John immediately after. Anyway, yes, I had a tough start as my small digger went missing, my good shovel was broken, and my battery charge looked good, but that sucker shut down as soon as I fired her up...

    yesterday and today

Yesterday was cold but sunny. I took a few hours and headed to the fairgrounds. Early on I found some wheats and these 2 silvers, then changed locations and things calmed down. I did find 3 wheats and this IH in the same hole tho. It was a very nice day. Went out with Scott this afternoon, but...

    Solo Merc

Well, I finally got out after ~ 3 weeks or so. Catskill comics and I did one of the old haunts to find nothing. Then we went on a wild goose chase for a few parks that yielded nothing as well. We each had a few wheats but daylight was burning. We decided to hit the fairground extremities yet...

    Cape Cod

I read that a storm removed 15' of sand from the beach somewhere out there and exposed one of 3500 shipwrecks on the Cape....anyone hunting out there currently?

    meteorite

On my way to see a west point hockey game I saw something fly across the sky just over the tree line....had a dull light. 1/2 across my sight line I said to my son what's that, he saw it too and couldn't explain it. He agreed a probable meteorite.....wish i had noted the location as we know they...

    weekend with Catskill Comics

I caught up with Scott on Friday, Sat and Sunday for ~ 2 hours each. He's getting the hang of the eTrac and will be a force to be reckoned with soon! Friday we were working a small patch of grass on the outside of the fairgrounds, and I was out of the zone completely. I was freezing and...

    washington

Went out for 2 hours or so and dug only 1 good target about 5 minutes in. What was great about this was that I couldn't pinpoint it so I was happy to pull it out. Adjacent trash kept pulling me away on the pinpoint, however, there was a nice faint tone there. It did register quarter and I could...

    snow

Well, we got a freak snow storm here in NY the other day, kind of like one of those spot tornados so you probably didn''t hear about it on the news.....it sure is piling up. Ok so , i was only kidding; just the scraping of the ice at the rink...that's why they call me hockeyguy! :hammer:

    seated

3 parks, 150 miles and 1 keeper. :dontknow: Tough day in the parks for me. The 2 1st parks were busts couldn't get in the groove. Memorial pennies at 7 and quarters at 4. Next park was a killer,. Holding my detector in the air it was going crazy let alone on the ground. The last was in Albany...

    13 x face for silver?

A friend, who has a nice side gig trading coins for some 30 years, said he was sending in some silver coins for melt value. He offered me 13 x face.....WDYT? Worth it? I could always use the cash to purchase a nicer coin or an upgrade. The thing is the silver pieces are kind of like trophies to me.

so many holes, so few keepers.

Went out with Catskill Comics and another friend today for a marathon hunt. I really didn't want to go back to this park, however it was the concensus so I obliged. :beatdeadhorse: :behave: Got there at ~ 9am and hunted for ~ 3 hours ; I only managed to find a few wheats. A bit later, I was...

    found quarter

I wasn't getting along mith my SE today, we just weren't hitting it off. EMI, hot rocks....it was a tough morning for me at a new park. I decided to move to another that I have hunted and been thrown out of several times by the lady across the street and the police. Anyway, I have found only...

    IH

2.5 hours at the Albany , NY park yielded this IH penny...I certainly couldn't get into the groove. I have been skunked here before. Actually, of all the hours I've put in there, my only coin finds are this IH, a barber dime and my one and only 2 center. Lots of iron and very few deep hits. I...
