Got out to a site Steve and I hit a few times. I only had and hour or so before work, so I had to stay local. This is a home site in the woods where the only remains of the house are the steps that led to the front door. I decided to work the path that leads up to the site and got a nice deep...
Found this button on the farm field that has given up many colonial buttons and a war of 1812 artillery button. This button features an indian holding a bow and arrow with a single star to the right of the figures head. I can make out the word Boston on the back. Not sure if its revolutionary of...

Got out today for some fun with the M6 and found a Large Cent (no date) and a flat button. This is some difficult ground to swing on (see pictures), but since its still giving up oldies, I keep coming back. HH :beerbuddy:
Met up with Steve at the 1840's home site that produced the two large cents and Merc. After years of digging Wheats got my first Indian Head . After some cleaning with a tooth pick got a date, 1884. Nice green patina under all the crud. The large crotal bell was found a few days ago at the...

Steve and I set out this morning to get permission to hunt two sites, one a large wooded area that saw revolutionary war activity, the second a 1900's era abandoned house. Luck was on our side and we were given the go ahead on both :peace: happydance02. The woods site gave up a few wheaties and...
Steve found an old home site on historic aerials and we did an early morning hike through the woods to find it. Saw a bunch of trees that were different from the rest of the woods and came upon the cellar hole. The foundation is cinderblock so its not too old but it did have a cool field...
Hitting some spots with Pulltab Steve that I have been researching and got my first Barber, a 1899 quarter. Hit an old farm field that gave up the 1827 large cent. Found the 1957 Washington and junk ring at an old farm house after getting permission from the owner. Found the French coin...
Found a cluster of cellar holes, I counted at least 4, a rare treat here on Long Island. Steve and I hit it over the weekend and it gave up the shoe buckle. Took a walk down a long path and came upon a pond that gave up the sterling silver birth record bell. Glad we got to hunt the cellar holes...
Got out for a nice hunt with Pulltab Steve in some local woods we never hit before. Towards the end of the hunt got a nice 80 VDI at 6 inches and pulled a Draped Bust large cent form under a root. It's pretty toasted so I can't get a date 8/. Found some nice old bottles too.
Got permission to search an old church built in 1905. Hit it early with Pulltab Steve and man was it hot. Found some clad, a '64 Rosie and what looks like a bike bell with a swastika ( :dontknow:anyone have any idea of what it is?) this is the second swastika item I found this year :thinkingabout:
...and awoke to the sound of pouring rain >:\. A quick check of the doppler radar on my iphone showed that the heavy rain was just about done. Pull Tab Steve and I met up at an old school where we had gotten permission to hunt. Found 2 silver Washingtons, 6 wheats '19, '28, '42, 2 '44's and a...

Hit a local playground/ballfield and dug a 1936 Merc and 3 wheats, the oldest a 1925. The merc was a suprise since this park only dates to the early sixties :thinkingabout:. Gave filming a try using my iphone, I will need to work on my technique lol. Happy Hunting all :beerbuddy:
