Railroad Check?? ever see one before ?

That's a great find, Don. The Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad was bought out by Illinois Central RR. The logo on your RR tag was used from 1896 to 1923. I found one just like it over 5 years ago along the railroad tracks where a tiny town once was up until the early '30s when the local...

slow day...but found a rare (?) bar token and a cool relic

It's been a beautiful day to TH so i went back to one of my favorite spots. Spent about 5 hours hunting but when it came to coins I found only 3 wheats ('11, '19, and '35). :eyebrow: But I did find a neat old bar token...Wilburs Tavern, Southeast Corner Square, Pawnee Illinois. It's not listed...

    CW era button(??) ..Illinois 132nd.

Just sharing pics of a find from a few years back. Found this Ill. 132nd button while MDing. It was laying exposed in a plowed field where a house once sat (marked in the 1874 atlas). the day's catch...silver, LC, and IH

    Finds from the past...brass taps

Haven't had a chance to hunt for 2 weeks, I'm bored, and the cabin fever is setting in fast , so I just wanted to show some brass taps i had found during the last 2 seasons. All were found at farm sites. My fave is the gas pump handle. Never seen a tap like the one with the steel...

christmas weekend hits...(3 IH & war nickel)

Had a few hours between yesterday and today to hit a couple of my favorite old spots....first time with Etrac. The IHs are dated 1908, 1891, & 1881. The three of them were found on the same site that my biggest coin spill find (7 IHs), and quite a few silvers were found. The war nickel (1943)...

    greetings from Illinois

New member in central Illinois saying hello to everyone!! I've been part time detecting for 14+ years (using a Sovereign XS with DTI III meter and 8 coil). I hunt mainly 1800s farm or school sites. At my favorite hunting sites I have had good luck finding some nice silver, a lot of IH pennies...
