Buried Coin Stash Near a tree

I was curious if anyone has ever found a buried jar or stash of coins near an old tree base? What I'm curious about is if the tree roots push the stash out and away from the tree, or if the roots grow around the jar and essentially make it impossible to retrieve, short of chopping down the...

Been away awhile, just checking in...

Hello everyone. I've not been online a lot lately, as this is my very busy time of year. Which also translates to I've not detected any for a really long time either. It's about killin me, but it's the way that it is. I miss my hunting time and I miss my forum time, and hopefully, I will get...

It took me 15 minutes in my backyard to find two relics!!!!!! Check it out!!!

Welcome aboard. My name is Kasey, from Georgia. I am a new detectorist, having started November 2013. Interestingly, I, too, found that same presidential campaign tag (same wording), but slightly different in the actual shape.

    Lost and Found

I'm very excited. I got a call from a local farmer this afternoon at 5:15. He had been plowing a field and lost a disc. As soon as he realized he had lost the disc, he stopped the tractor and called me. He told me his demise and I immediately dispatched to the location. He had located the...

    USNavy pendant, button and bullet

Ok, guys and gals, I finally graduated to the 21st century and got my first smartphone, so once I learn and master it, I'll be able to better document my meager finds. So here's my first stab at showing you the Pendant after I cleaned it with lemon juice. Any and all comments to better improve...

    Coca Cola Fob

Was out at a friend's lake place and found this near their pavillion.. Again, the pictures are not too good. Sorry. One side says Drink Coca Cola in Bottles 5c. The other has an image of a girl holding up a drink. This piece of metal hasn't cleaned up really well, lots of green, that I don't...

    USNavy pendant, button and bullet

Was out meandering at a friend's place. Walking along the creek and checking the bases of trees, I dug these 3 items. They weren't in the same hole, but were near the bases of 3 different trees, yards apart. The first is a pendant or the like. It has USN on it with an anchor on the bottom...

    Ticks

What does everyone use for tick repellent? If I just walk through the woods, I will get deer ticks on me, and I am highly allergic to their bites. Once bitten, it takes 5+ months to heal, and itches for at least 3 or more months. Am hoping y''all have found something that really works to keep...

    Having Trouble Posting Reply

I don't know if it is my PC or if the forum is having issues this morning, but I'm trying to post a reply to a thread, and it won't add it to the thread. I've tried 5 different times. I also can't get the "new posts" to come up. Instead, I have to go to my profile and get there via my...

    coin like pieces with letters

Interesting to me that you posted this today. I, too, found a "token" of similar nature yesterday. It is not in as good of condition, but I am able to make out several letters/words engraved on it. The word "CIGARS" is on the top line. "JOHN" is on the next line with some corrosion, then...

    Presidental Campaign Fob from 1904

Was swinging away and found this little tag. My picture taking/camera is not very good. What is engraved on the tag is: Parker 1904 Davis Washington. Each word per line. Gave it to the property owner, who researched it and tells me it is a Presidential campaign train luggage fob, from 1904.

    My Park hunt

I went to the local Parks and Recreation Park today, in hopes of picking up a little clad. I've been there before and have had a good day. However, while hunting in the picnic area and along the SIDES of the soccer field, on a previous day, one of the park's workers came over and told me it...

Found and dug up a Wagon!

The neighbor tells me that the old roadbed used to go through his pasture, so have at it, he says. Well, since I still feel like a newbie at this, I don't notch out anything, and dig most of what I target. So weeks ago, I got a big hit on something, but didn't have adequate tools to unearth...

    Old home site hunting

I'm new at MD'ing, so I'm throwing this out there in hopes someone can give me pointers. A landowner has given me permission to hunt and told me there used to be houses long long ago (and he pointed to a general area). Hovering over the ground in the area pointed out, the detector goes crazy...
