100 year old coin spill

Got out today and hit a 100 year old coin spill with my oldest half dollar and a 1906 "V" nickel. the barber Half was a 1893. Also hit what I think was a post '64 drop Rosie as it was in the same hole and depth as a 1992 dime. Weird but glad to find it. Also managed a well wore SLQ on my way back to the car. A definite bonus find as that trek usually only nets clad. Yesterday I hit a park close to home and went over a hole I found a war nickel at a couple of hunts ago and got another one at that same hole. It was not a great signal so I am guessing I missed it when I checked it or never rechecked the hole. That's the 1st time I can recall finding 2 war nickels in the same hole. great weather and fun hunt today. Keep swinging Wisconsin Digger

Very nice, love that Barber half! Great bunch of silver. Hoping the weather stays nice for the next week as I've got a couple hunts planned myself.

Great silver spill WD. Worn or not any SLQ is always welcome in the keeper pouch and the Barber 1/2 is fantastic. :thumbsup02:

Awesome finds! Can you post a close up of that V nick? Did you clean it? If, so what did you do? It looks awesome....I can never get mind to look like that. Congrats!

I use vinegar and salt but I made it a bit hot as you can see the surface burned a little. When the coin has little value I brilow pad it or this one, because I over soaked, I touched with a wire wheel (not a good idea) as it looks way to shiny. Again low value coin. Never found a real valuable nickel so I soak all my Buffs and Vs in vinegar and salt. THX WD
