Well it finally happened. Went back to the golf course today and the 1st dig was a wheat. There are construction trucks all over and the foreman asked that I not be there when his guys are working. Not a problem....can I detect back to my car? Sure....

By the time I got back to my car I had my 1000th wheat. I'm sure everybody is dying to know what it was.

1956D

I did get a 1916S today which in my opinion would have made a better 1000th wheat.....
.

Thanks for reading and HH everyone.

'bout damn time Al! LOL. Congrats on your wheatie milestone. Not many guys get a 1,000 of anything (except maybe pulltabs), Best wishes and HH, Dave.

Congrats on your 1,000th wheat cent, Al! That's quite a milestone! Don't get run over by heavy equipment trying to get number 1,001! :thumbsup01:

:congrats:

Due to the type of hunting I do, mostly fields, it only took me 11 years to do this. Quite a number of trucks. Looks like it will be after they quit work for the day.

:congrats:

That's pretty awesome Al!! I'm getting my new hip Oct 2 so let me know when they scrape exactly 4 inches of dirt off those road holes. I need some Southwick silver lol.

Congrats on the milestone. Wheats always play an important role in my scouting. Just like fishing "one's a fluke two's a pattern" If I find at least 2 wheats the place has potential. Congrats WD

Way to go Al! With 1000 wheats, how many do you need to fill out a coin book? I'd imagine you're still looking for the elusive '31S and '09S VDB, but is that all?

Mike, good luck with the new hip. Last time I checked only 3 3/4" have been removed....

WD, thanks. Most of us also think where there are wheat's, silver is lurking also.

Hey, it's your story. Tell it how you want.
Either way, it's a heck of a story!
Congrats Al! :congrats:

Thanks Tim. My eyes ain't that good so the first 3 wheat's went into the keeper pouch and the 4th into my pants pocket. It's just the way things worked out.
