Still too hot for me but I hadn't been out in a while so I gave it a go for a few hours this morning. Found a much closer way to access one of my sites from a few years back.

Found a few goodies including a plated patriotic fob, fancy drawer pull, nice gilt cone shaped button (forgot to add it to the pic) and a 1792 Maria 1 Portuguese 10 Reis. It is a big copper!

Not really surprised to find such a coin. This site is near an old shipyard that once built whalers. Here's what it's supposed to look like:

Cooler weather can't come quick enough!

Oh my Jeff! I've never heard of such a coin! I like the design on it too. I bet you were excited to see that bottle cap at the bottom of a hole at a colonial site

Great finds, and I love that coin! As for cooler weather, you can have our Wisconsin weather-had to put on winter jackets yesterday.

Interesting coin Jeff it looks to have pretty nice detail how about another picture of the coin (minus the red circle:lol:) , there is always a nice variety of coinage near ports . congrats

Sweet copper. Nice fob too. Too bad most of the ports/docks I have found on the old maps near me have changed too much to even find stuff at.

Thanks folks.

Yeah Drew, bottle caps are the worst because they do sound nice and you are not expecting them! And at least when you get faked out by an ox knob, you still have a nice relic.

Here's a pic Dan, sans the red circle
