1798 LC

This is a couple of firsts for me, a pre 1800's Federal issue copper where I could read the date, and my first draped bust LC. :happydance01: Its pretty abused, as are all coppers in our acidic soil, but I'll take it <: <: <: I've been looking for a draped bust LC for a long, long time.

Best part is that this coin was only an inch deep :omg: Better to be lucky than good. Of course, I cheated a bit, as I noticed they were digging these trenches, 2 feet wide, 6 feet long, 1 foot deep; have no idea why they were digging them, but like any good detectorist, I hit the dug dirt from the trenches, and there she was <:

She looks good to me! Congratulations. It's always good to find construction digging going on.

Very nice!!! |:cheering: Great way to take advantage of construction.

Makes me think I should get a job digging trenches lol Except I would probably get fired

Congratulations! thumbsup01

That's a beauty there Randy, your soil is tough on the coppers and that one came out pretty nice!

:perfect10: Great find!! I've got a spot on my road. That has been dozed for a new house. I guess I better get my butt down there. Before it starts snowing. Congrats on a great find |:cheering:

Wow... such an oldie. :clapping: Way to take advantage of the situation.
Not too often a person can say I dug a 1700's coin at one inch.
You have made some great finds so far in 2012. Can't wait to see how your year turns out. :-> :->

Wow Randy!! 17.....90.....8! Wow!! Do you know how old that thing is! OLD man!!! <:
And like you and the others have said. That baby held up really nice for being buried all these years!!
Sweet, sweet find!! thumbsup01 :envious:
Congrats!!

Holy cow! :shocked04:

What in incredible find, Randy! :perfect10:

That one's a stunner! How amazing to find a coin that is 214 years old! It's a beauty! :smitten:

Congrats! That one is in great shape compared to mine. I found a 1798 DB but it was 7 deep. The front is just a shadow but the back is legible. Nice job.

That one's in good shape. Seems all the large cents I find here on Long Island I can't get a readable date :dontknow:
