Today's late afternoon three hour hunt yielded me just one silver, but I did make up by also nabbing two old coins - a 2-cent piece, dated 1864, and a 1824 Brazilian 20 Reis. :happydance01: :happydance01:

The coin is very thin and light. It's a neat looking coin.

This one was a sweet surprise. I think it will look decent once the soil is removed.

Here they are, along with the one silver coin I found.

I also picked up an old spoon and a neat button.

And here are the rest of the finds - a few wheat cents and some other miscellaneous items.

When I started digging that target I was thinking silver dime, but when I picked it up and saw what it was I exclaimed oh, joy! An ox knob!  I love the spoon though.

From what I read, the area of the park I was working goes back to the late 1700's early 1800's. There is much overgrown ground though so I have to wait until late winter or early spring to detect it.

I love the old coins, especially the Brazilian one :)

Is that your first ox knob?

As usual I'm trying to figure out what the 'miscellaneous items are. What's that thing shaped like a horseshoe?

I have no idea what it is. It's ornate and light. I don't remember why I decided to keep it instead of placing it in the trash pouch. :thinkingabout:

And no, that's not my first ox knob. It's just the first to be photographed.

An ox knob?, an ox knob?, an ox knob??    That's all I have to say for now
