1873 Indian Head, 1907 V Nickel, Buffalos and some silvers

On Saturday I put lots of miles on my car driving around trying to find new places to hunt. I think I spent too much time driving and not enough time detecting.

I tried three new sites with limited success. At the first park I found an 1882 Indian Head and a pocket spill of 5 wheat cents, then nothing else of note for the next two hours, so I moved on. At the second park I found several wheat cents and a 1946 Rosie. The Lion's Club was having a fish fry at one end of the park, so I kept my distance and limited my hunting to a small area. I may return to this park in the future.

Then later on Saturday I ended up back at the park where I found the Standing Liberty Quarter last weekend. At this park yesterday I found a 1913 Buffalo Nickel, a 1920 Mercury Dime and a 1946 Rosie.

Today I spent about 4 hours hunting at the park where I found 5 Indian Heads and the silver pilot's wings last weekend. Still no silver coins from this park, but I did find some decent old coins anyway. Today I found an 1873 and 1900 Indian Head, a 1907 V Nickel and a dateless Buffalo Nickel, plus 3 wheat cents.

Here are my keepers for the weekend:

This 1873 Indian Head filled a hole in my collection of metal detected Indian Heads:

This 1882 Indian Head also filled a hole:

I wish the 1873 Indian Head was as nice as this 1900:

It seems like it has been forever since I found a V Nickel so this was a welcome sight today:

Two buffalos yesterday and one today. 1913 type II, 1917 and dateless:

All three silvers were found yesterday. (SDHOS today!)

Old aluminum thimble. It says, Cholerine for fowls. :dontknow:

I'm sitting at 97 Indian Heads for the year. I remember how amazed I was last year when JKress found 100 Indian Heads, and I remember thinking at the time that there was no way I'd ever find that many in a year. I guess I shouldn't have underestimated the abilities of the E-Trac. It will be fun trying to achieve that goal this year.

Thanks for looking and happy hunting, everyone! |:cheering:

Absolutely great finds Tony! Congrats! You will reach the 100 IH mark in no time, and I am sure it is not the machine but the operator. WTG and congrats on another fantastic weekend of MDing!

Another Tony Two-Cent marathon weekend hunt!! :happydance01:

We were wondering if you were going to be making a post tonight. You sure have a beautiful pile of keepers here. :smitten: :clapping:
The IH's look amazing. Gotta love when they come out corrosion free. Any chance the 1873 has a double Liberty? :->

Amazing you are so close to 100 IH's already. I had to get out on a couple of very cold December days looking for #100. :frozen:
I bet you'll hit 100 in the next week. thumbsup01

Congrats Tony.
