Alec and i set out this morning for a couple of towns in Indiana that looked Good. We spotted an old church that was built in 1870 and got permission from the Pastor . Alec dug a 1940 Merc and I dug a very cool 1896 large cent from Newfoundland. I didn't clean it very well but the detail is amazing on it. The next spot was a town I found on google earth.
We spent about an hour at an old park, but came out with only clad. So back to door knocking we went. We found a house that was built in 1885. Alec dug a 1857 Rosie, a Green River Whiskey Token, an old watch, a toy car and 4 wheats. I only dug 2 Wheats and .76 in clad. after that, I spent over 2 hours driving home and Alec took a 2 hour nap.

Some day Alec will get his drivers license and then you can take a 2 hour nap. Some nice finds, that Newfoundland LC is great.

The Newfoundland coin is an excellent find. :thumbsup02: Very nice detail and not something you see every day. Actally it is the first one I have seen.

I have to admit I am partial to tokens. The older one's are often singular and unique. The Green River Whisky token is definately unique. Nice image. I did not know it is "Lucky To Drink Whisky" . Maybe it has to be some of that Green River Brand.

Three Thumbs Up on the token. :thumbsup01::thumbsup01::thumbsup01:

I Know, I can't wait until he can drive me around. I had a non silver day, but that LC made up for it. I've never seen one before. Pretty cool.

Congrats on an awesome find I'd take that LC anyday....Its always a great day when you have time to Metal Detect with your son :detecting:

Wow. Just checked. That newfoundland cent must be more rare than the 1877 IH. It has 1/4 the amount minted at 200k pcs. And it's nice shape. Granted I see the quality of yours makes it worth somewhere between$ 3 and $27. I wouldn't care tho with not many being made.

Great looking "Vicky" penny Don , them bronze pennies usually come out looking pretty good.

Nice digs Don. Those Canadian LC's are pretty coins. Love that token. I've been thinking about buying a good bottle of sipping whiskey. Now that I know it is lucky, I will.

Another terrific hunt, Don! That 1896 Newfoundland large cent is awesome! You don't see too many of those posted on the forum!

I really like that Green River Whiskey token too. Very nice! :clapping:

:congrats:

Awesome bunch of finds that you got on that hunt Don :thumbsup02: I really like that Green River Whiskey token  :congrats:

It's lucky to drink Green River Whiskey huh? I better get me some of that stuff!
Great find! I gotta admit, I'm a little partial to the old tokens too. They more unique and have a research-able story behind them.
Cool stuff
The Vicky penny is a sweet find too! :thumbsup02:
Nice finds fellas!
Congrats!
